Transform Something Old Into Something New, Part II – Building a WeddingBrand

by Patricia Vining

On Monday, we began by collecting and photographing the things we loved. Today, we are going use some of WeddingBrand’s best, wedding planning techniques on these items. Here on this blog, we provide you with the tools you need to build your own WeddingBrand. When these tools are applied consistently, they can result in a seamless, signature wedding experience. Not only are we going to transform something old into something new, we are going to build a WeddingBrand in the process. Here’s how:

WeddingBrand AttributesWeddingBrand Attributes – Take a look at the photos you took in Part I of this series. What qualities or attributes do your treasured items convey? In the case of my items, I think that my items convey the following: old world charm, European simplicity, the artisanal, and the traditional. Now make your list of WeddingBrand attributes.

WeddingBrand Color PaletteWeddingBrand Color Palette – You can pull colors from your photos using the eyedropper tool in Photoshop or you can upload your photos to the CSS Drive Color Palette Generator and it will do the work for you for you. The photo above shows the palette I pulled from my images. This is one place where you will want to break the rules and take a look at the trends or Something New—specifically the Pantone Color Forecast for the year. Fashion brands and linen companies base their upcoming lines on these forecasts. There is nothing worse than getting your heart set on a specific color, only to find out that your bridesmaids’ dresses are not available in that shade this season. Try to match some of the colors from your images to something similar in the color forecast. This ensures that you find the things that you need for your big day and that your WeddingBrand palette is fresh and contemporary.

Tune in Friday for Part III in this series, What’s Your Type
